Room Too Hot? Too Cold?

Our residence buildings take some time to acclimatize after fluctuations in outdoor temperatures. If you’re having trouble with the temperature in your room, please check the following before contacting your Front Desk:

  • are both sets of windows closed?
  • is there anything in front of your heat register that prevents air circulation?
  • is your heat register warm or cold to the touch?

Please note:

  • Our heating systems are affected by changes in the outdoor air temperature - allowing cooler air into the building through open windows causes the building to generate more heat, so please keep windows closed
  • Please use space heaters only in situations of extreme cold. The heat generated by space heaters  reduces the amount of heat generated by building systems
  • All residence buildings except for (Leggett and Watts) have 4-5 sensors on each floor which average the temperature and control heat. Leaving the windows open can affect these sensors.
  • Leggett and Watts residents have controls in every other room (click here for instructions on using the controls). If the temperature control is not in your room, please check with your washroom mate to confirm the temperature reading and setting for possible adjustments.
