SPECIAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES
Information regarding a disability and any required room adaptations must be submitted with your application – we are only able to make arrangements for students who include this information on the application form and submit it by the due date.
If you wish us to take into account a medical condition which would not be described as a disability, please provide medical documentation that clearly describes your condition and how it affects your residence placement. This information must be submitted with your application form in order to be considered.
Unclear or vague medical documentation will not be accepted
Room changes based on medical needs after the application deadline will only be considered if they are under exceptional circumstances and may not be able to be accommodated. Please note that this process is not intended to provide an option for students to achieve a more favourable building assignment.
Please note that Queen’s Residences is a high density living environment – it may be difficult to control that environment required by a medical condition. We strongly encourage students who may have environmental health concerns to consider if accommodation in residence is safe and conducive to their lifestyle.
We are committed to accommodating the requirements of students with disabilities to the best of our ability, however please note that you may not be placed in the residence of your preference.
Please contact the Residence Admissions office if you have a parent, guardian, or sibling with a disability such as mobility, vision or hearing impairment that would require accommodation when visiting your residence building.
YOUR APPLICATION
To apply you require your Queen’s 7-digit student number – and you can only apply once
Room preferences are only a guide in the process and not a guarantee — please make sure to familiarize yourself with the room types and rank your 5 preferences.
Rating the same preference for all 5 choices does not increase your chance for that room type.
Your chances of securing a room type or residence community depends on the demand for that room type or residence community, All rooms are assigned using a random computer lottery process.
Please note that we do not accept credit card payments
Please indicate any disability, medical condition, dietary need/and or requirements related to lifestyle, culture, gender or religious needs on your application form. Documentation is required for medical circumstances. Any pre-existing condition must be noted on the application form in order to be considered and will not be considered after rooms have been assigned. Even in situations where students do not believe it will effect their room assignment it is best to include relevant information for consideration.
If you are interested in a double room and have a preferred room mate, you must submit your preferred roommate’s Queen’s student number with your application as the first preference. Please make sure that this number is correct before submitting your application. It is the students responsibility to ensure the student number is correct. If double room is not selected as the first preference or your room mate has not selected you then the match is not possible. This is not a guaranteee and is dependent on your lottery number.
Read the summary page that appears after you have completed your application to ensure that your application is correct. You can also print this summary page (which includes a ticket number) for your records.
Once your application and deposit are recieved, you will receive an email confirmation to your email account provided. Please contact us if you do not receive confirmation of your completed application and deposit by the deadlines.
